Abstract
Nutrition in
period of pregnancy is important. One of micronutrient is zinc which is obvious
for fetus’s growth and development. Labioschizis is a congenital facial structure
deformity caused by deficiency of zinc. Every year, there is a significant
number of enhancement. Knowing about etiology of this deformity is a way to
decrease this number. Deficiency of zinc and labioschizis are related in cell
metabolism, DNA synthesis, and unstable structure of cell membrane protein.
Zinc is not single factor causing labioschizis, but other factors cooperate so
that this incident happened. This paper will discuss effect of deficiency of
zinc on labioschizis.
